Sharon’s personal path to SKG Fitness.

I’m a mom of two, grandmother, and wife. I’m retired from the postal service. Inherently devoted to fitness, I’ve always enjoyed leading an active lifestyle. What made leading a healthy lifestyle non negotiable, however, was being diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Since the late 90s, I’ve been forced to teach myself ways of living with and managing this debilitating infection.

While under physician’s care, I initially embarked on this physically taxing, mentally draining journey by taking in daily doses of antibiotics through an IV for six weeks straight. But I would not let this disease win. Despite the crippling fatigue, I forced myself to keep moving, relearning how to move my body. While under the care of my physician, I was determined to once again achieve my energetic lifestyle.

In the beginning, making the bed each day was exhausting. By noon I would find myself sweating with chills from head to toe, running a low-grade fever. I began to research how a tiny, little tick could so drastically affect your life. While I had always led a healthy lifestyle through exercise and movement, living with Lyme Disease made exercise even more of a necessity for me.

More than 20 years later, I still find the remnants of Lyme Disease showing its ugly head from time to time. I don’t allow myself to dwell. Because—when I dwell—it becomes bigger than life. Instead, I look at the wins no matter their size.

This has led me to SKG Fitness. I want to be that source of motivation and encouragement for you. Exercise isn’t always easy. I’d be honored to guide you through your fitness journey. My motto is: Everyday is a good day… some are better than others!
